this file is a summary of 1D models for global crustal model CRUST 5.1. there are three tables. the first one lists the global average, the second one the average for continents (incl. cont. shelves), and the third one is the average for oceans (incl. cont. slopes). the averages are true equal area averages (not averages of the 5x5 degree cells of CRUST5.1). CRUST 5.1 consists of 7 layers: water, ice, soft sediments, hard sediments and a three-layer crystalline crust (upper, middle, lower). the last line are the parameters of the upper mantle immediately below the moho (thickness 999. indicates the halfspace). IMPORTANT NOTE for CRUST5.1 users: In CRUST5.1, the first layer is ice and the second layer is water (so the layers are flipped here)!! 1) global average top of layer(km) thickness(km) VP(km/s) VS(km/s) RHO(g/cm^3) 0.21 2.6 1.50 0.00 1.02 -2.39 0.06 3.81 1.94 0.92 -2.45 0.58 2.09 0.89 1.92 -3.03 0.50 3.98 2.11 2.40 -3.53 6.14 5.46 2.92 2.66 -9.67 6.37 6.57 3.66 2.89 -16.04 5.74 7.10 3.91 3.05 -21.78 999. 8.15 4.66 3.36 2) continental model top of layer (km) thickness(km) VP VS RHO 0.59 0.17 1.50 0.00 1.02 0.42 0.17 3.81 1.94 0.92 0.25 0.67 2.41 1.07 2.08 -0.42 1.13 4.04 2.15 2.41 -1.55 13.09 6.13 3.54 2.77 -14.64 12.76 6.52 3.67 2.88 -27.40 10.58 7.10 3.93 3.05 -37.98 999. 8.15 4.67 3.38 3) oceanic model top of layer (km) thickness(km) VP VS RHO 0.00 3.97 1.50 0.00 1.02 -3.97 0.00 3.81 1.94 0.92 -3.97 0.54 1.91 0.79 1.84 -4.51 0.15 3.94 2.08 2.39 -4.66 2.19 5.08 2.57 2.61 -6.85 2.75 6.60 3.65 2.90 -9.60 3.00 7.11 3.91 3.05 -12.60 999. 8.15 4.65 3.35
